Garment Deconstruction - Part 1...

For this project we had to deconstruct and re-construct a men's tailored jacket.

                             

 

I then unpicked the men's tailored jacket, taking it apart.

After unpicking I started to work with the lining on the mannequin...

                         

                          

                                                

...After working with the lining of the men's tailored jacket, I started to incorporate the outer shell of the jacket.

I then just worked with the outer shell of the jacket.

I really like this piece, especially the pinched section low the right breast.

Here I made a skirt out of the shell of the jacket; I like the way I have gathered the material. I looks like a tulip skirt.

So that I could work with the jacket flat, i unpicked the stitching along the back and arms so that it would flatten.

 This is a garment i came up with using the flatten tailored jacket.

I really liked this piece because of the detailing at the front, and the way I have made the tail with the lining of the jacket.

PVA, tights and a chair - Part 2...

For the second part of the 'PVA, tights and a chair' project we had to take the hardened structure off the chair...

...and work with it on the mannequin.

We wrapped the top on the mannequin with cling film, making a kind of under garment. Becasue we wanted to use all parts of our structure.

We then put the structure onto the mannequin in various ways.

After working with the structure on the mannequin, we put the mannequin on a model :)

 

The structure we made when using 1 chair became a bag. (shown on the image on the right.)

I did not really enjoy this project because it was not as excitng as other projects we have done, and I did not really like the outcome of our structure.

PVA, tights and a chair - Part 1...

For this project the aim was to cover a chair with mutton cloth or nylon tights, cover it with PVA and wait for it to harden.

Here we are covering 3 chairs with cling film so that it acts as a base for the tights.

 We began to wrapped the cling film covered chair with nylon tight, pulling it and knotting it to keep it in place.

We wanted to use different coloured materials to make the outcome more interesting.

So we used nude,black and blue nylon tights, white mutton cloth and some purple patterned paper. 

After covering the chair with the different materials we covered it with PVA glue.

  

We also did a second chair just covering the top of the chair.
