Week 24 - Dress #2

Week 23: Dress #2
Material used:

1.       How well did it work as a garment?
I think the garment was O., I would have liked to made it a bit more looser.

2.       Is it fashion? If so why, if not why not?
I believe that this was fashion. It had a kind of past futuristic look. Like a spaceship dress from the 60s.

3.       What opening did you use?
 I used a zip opening.

4.       What were the problems?

5.       What could you do to improve next time?
Next time I will not hem the skirt part of the dress, because the dress didn't flow, it became stiff.

6.       What was the fabric?
Elastic Polyester

7.       How much did you use?
About a metre.

8.       How much did it cost?
2 metre £6.75

9.    Where was it sourced?
 Shepherd Bush
..................................................................................................................................................................
1.       Firstly I copied my top pattern block so that I work with it. I measured from my neck down to measure how low I wanted my low cut to be, as I will be making a new neck line
1.       As I want the bottom of the back of the dress to be open I will only make a copy of the top the back pattern block.
(Because the pattern block I was using was a size 10, I took it in from the centre so fit me, but I’m not going to cut it off incase its too small.)

2.       I want to work on the top half of the dress first so I started to pin the patterns to the material and then drew around them with tailors chalk.

3.       Next I went onto starting the bottom of my dress. I made my own pattern. Like the top of the dress I started to pin and draw around the pattern with tailors chalk. Then going around the pattern giving 2.5cm leave.

4.     I then started to pin all the pieces together where they needed to go.

5.  First with the top part of the dress I sewed the darts.

6. I then made made the skirt, and then attached the zip to the top and skirt.

7. Then hemmed the skirt.
